‘’I’m a child with my rights’’Workshop was held at our University

Marmara University City Problems and Local Administrations Research Center Manager - Department of Local Governments (City Planner) Assoc. Prof. Yasemin Çakırer Özservet's project for the adaptation of Istanbul Children to Nature and City, which was realized by Marmara University, Istanbul University, Beykent University and the City Problems and Local Administrations Research and Application Center, has been active since June. Within the framework of the project, trainings and studies were planned in 3 main modules. Students who successfully complete each module will be given an engagement to the completion of the relevant module, and students who are successful in collecting all the insignia will be given a project participation certificate at the end of the project.

1. CITY ADJUSTMENT MODULE: The project participant includes workshops and excursions that will enable students to identify from the street where they live and experience with different methods.

2. NATURE ADJUSTMENT MODULE: Activities and workshops aimed at students to adopt and appreciate the value of urban natural areas including nature walks.

3. SOCIETY ADAPTATION MODULE: In the modalities targeted at the development of individual and social awareness, social tolerance perceptions, various workshop activities have been designed to improve the sensitivity of students. Works produced during  workshops in the three districts will be exhibited on joint exhibitions on 20th November World Children's Rights Day and 23rd April. These exhibitions are also  valueable and important in terms of measuring the positive development of children's activities over 12 months. On April 30, 2019, an evaluation conference will be held with the participation of the parents of the participating students, the relevant institutions and organizations, and the project will be evaluated by different interest groups. ‘I’m a child with my rights’’ Workshop that has been held at our University; animation about children's rights was watched by talking with children and children's rights awarenesshas been gained. Then, in the 125th Anniversary Amphitheater, the children have been divided into groups of 6-7 people and have been asked to construct their own TV screens and their own stories with paper models using the workshop materials given to them.
