Phlebotomy Training In Cooperation With Marmara University and Turkish Biochemistry Association

Marmara University, Vocational School of Health Services, Medical Laboratory Techniques Program organized “Preanalytical Phase- Phlebotomy Training” with the contribution of TBD Preanalytical Phase Study Group. The opening speech of the training program, which was held for the third time this year, was made by Assoc. Prof. Meral Yüksel.  In her speech, Yüksel emphasized the importance of the preanalytical phase in order for laboratory studies to be concluded correctly. Yüksel stated that receiving blood in many parts of the world (phlebotomy) is considered as a separate profession and that the students who graduated from the Medical Laboratory Technician Program included Pharmacopoeia within the scope of their job descriptions and duties.

The trainings within the program were given by Prof. Dr. Fehime Benli Aksungar of Acıbadem Mehmet Ali Aydınlar University and Specialist Dr. Çiğdem Sönmez of  Health Sciences University Ankara Oncology Hospital.   In the presentations,  “Preanalytical stage and importance of Bloodletting”, “ Basic Anatomy and Physiology of Blood Regional”, “ Blood Collection Equipment and Their Properties” and “Blood Collection Procedures” were focused on.

In the afternoon session, Ipek Cinaroglu, representative for Becton Dickinson&Company , made a presentation titled “ Basic Infection Control”.  On the basis of the scenarios which  were created by Çiğdem Sönmez, İpek Çınaroğlu and Merve Tavbatır, the Venous Blood Collection model were applied with the dramatization of the students.

Phlebotomy Training ended with a plaque presentation of  Assoc. Prof. Ayliz Velioğlu Öğünç, Program Coordinator Lecturer Dr. Neşe Çakır and Instructor  Hülya Güçlü to trainers and a collective photograph.
