Marmara University Chess Team has become one of the teams that  succeded in raising 2018 Turkish Chess Second League  by taking top six ranks at the end of 2017 Turkey Clubs Chess Championship in which 55 teams and 712 athletes from 41 countries and TRNC competed for 9 rounds.

The Marmara University Chess team became one of the championship's most loved teams by winning 2 out of 55 teams in the Turkish Clubs Championship in the first year it was founded after coming in second in the groups in Istanbul, without any sponsors and support. Our team consists of Ayhan Kaan Aydin, Abdullah Dinke, Tunahan Makaracı, Atakan Eken, Ugur Barkın Tahaoglu, Şeyma Yılmaz, Duygu Yeşil, Yağmur Şinik, İlhan Serhat Salman, Kutay Karataş, Muhammet Akyüz, Ziya Sarıbıyık and Serdar Salman. Also  Ilhan Serhat Salman had 8 wins in 9 matches, 1 deuce and 7th table championship; Kutay Karataş came in third at the 6th table at the Championship.

We would like to congratulate our team under his directorship  and counseling of Marmara University graduate Vocational High School Teacher Ziya Sarıbıyık and Prof.  Serdar Salman and wish them a continued success.
