Research Center for Urban Problems and Local Governments

The mission and the objectives of the center are to;

• support the formation of democratic, transparent, and participatory local governments, and to take an action to enable the effective presentation of public services at the local level, • facilitate the harmonization of local governments with EU law and regulations, • institutionalize the Center, and to enable the Center to become a regional Center, • hold conferences, seminars, symposiums concerning urban problems and local governments, • conduct research studies and projects regarding local governments, • cooperate with other national and international institutions so as to conduct cooperative research studies/ projects, and to enable the transfer of knowledge acquired through such projects, • set up a documentation center regarding local governments, • provide in-service vocational training, • conduct studies / projects, and to provide consultancy to local governments, • establish relationships with public / private institutions, and non-governmental organizations, and to enable student participation in such activities.
