Life-Long Learning Programme - LLP

The European Union Education and Youth Programmes, entered a new era on 1 January 2007. During this seven-year period, which lasts until the end of 2013, the LLP = Lifelong Learning Programme and the Youth in Action Programme will be implemented; like earlier programmes, these will be realized with the participation of EU countries, EFTA countries (Norway, Iceland and Lichtenstein) and Candidate Countries (Turkey). In addition, Western Balkan countries and Switzerland are to be included in these programmes.

Turkey will participate in the Life Long Learning Programme, which began on 1 January, 2007 as a “full member”. In addition, it is planned that in the new period, all institutions that are concerned with education will have an increase of approximately 70% to their budgets in the 2007-2013 budget period to better respond to the intense demand.

Aims:

  • To ensure a transformation into an information society
  • To increase employment opportunities
  • To develop social cohesion
  • To ensure protection of the environment
  • To attain quality references
  • To support exchange and cooperation between teaching systems

In addition, the Life Long Learning Programme, as a programme that approaches not only general and vocational education, but all subprogrammes and activities, in a unified manner, is of great importance due to the increase in new rules, simplification and country-centred activities.
