Conference on Contractual Issues in Private International Law

Organized with the aim to raise the  contractual issues in  an international environment with the framework of the international private law discipline,  the conference was participated by 19 speakers from 6 countries and 13 institutions. It  was also attended by  audiences including academicians, lawyers and students with a strong interest.  

Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mustaf Çelen, Dean of Faculty of Law Prof. Dr. Serap Helvacı and Head of Department of International Private Law Prof. Dr. Sibel Özel made their opening speeches in that conference. Vice Rector Mustafa Çelen emphasized to the importance of discussing the international conventions from different perspectives as well as training  of the competent lawyers on international conventions which is the one of the most important issues of the international commerce and presented his thanks to all domestic and abroad participants for their contributionsin his opening speech.  Dean of Marmara University, Law of Faculty, Prof.Dr. Serap Helvacı stated it is important to discuss the issues such as the role of  counterparty will and which laws  are applicable in the contracts inluding a foreignness element, by pointing out an judicial system, to which contractual relations are liabled, should reflect  society’s economic and social necessities and preferences. Prof. Dr. Sibel Özel mentioned the importance of the dealing with the  international private law subjects and contractual issues, and  presented her thanks to the speakers who participated in the conference from domestic and abroad.

Founder of Esin Attorney Partnership, Lawyer Dr. İsmail Esin who participated in the conference as speaker shared his knowledge and  experiences by presenting the notification titled “Shareholders’ Agreement” with the audiences. Galatasaray University Faculty of Law, Lecturer Prof. Dr. Ziya Akıncı presented his notification titled “ Disputes Arising From the International  Construction Contrats and Demand Process” in the conference. Lecturers of Marmara University Faculty of Law, Assoc.Prof. Hatice Selin Pürselim Arning and Dr.  Hüseyin Akif Karaca presented their notifications titled “Law To Be Implemented  to the Consumer Contracts” and the “Choice  of Law Rules in the Judgements of the State Courts Arising from International Commercial Contracts: Analyse of Article 3. Of the Hague Rules”. Assoc.Prof. Cemile Demir Gökyayla and Dr. Lect. Candan Yasan Tepetaş from  Istanbul Bilgi University and Research. Assist. Süleyman Yasir Zorlu of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University participated in the conference as speakers.

The speakers coming from England, USA, Sweden, Croatia, Iran and Macedonia, who participated in the international  conference that was held within Marmara University, shared their knowledges in the light of their  researches. Emmanuel Guinchard (Northumbria University), Dr. Ugljesa Grusic (University of College London) and  Aygun Mammadzada (University of Southampton) from England ;  Lawyer  Joyce Williams (Armooh-Williams PLLC) from USA,  Lawyer  Maka Mahbuba Mammadova from Sweden; Dr. Vangel Dokovski (Ss. Cyril and Methodius University) from Macedonia,   Lawyer  Sharareh Dastmalchi from Iran and Assoc. Prof. Dora Zgrabljić Rotar  (University of Zagreb)from Croatia presented their notifications in that conference.  Lect. Assoc.Prof. Mustafa Erkan, Department of International Private Law, presented his thanks to speakers, moderators, audiences and everyone who contributed to the conference in his closing remarks. The conference was broadcasted live on Radio Hukuk.
