International Social Researches Center Hosted Founder Rector of Üsküdar University Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan

The discussion themed “the Impact of the Digital Dependency to Individual and Culture” was attended by Vice Rector of Mimar Sinan University Süleyman Kızıltoprak, Lecturer of the Department of Interpersonal Communication Emel Poyraz, students with master’s and doctoral degree and academicians from the other universities.

President of USOMER Ulağlı said “We are so grateful that doyen of the profession Prof.Dr. Nevzat Tarhan shared his experinces and knowledges. We don’t accept that digital  dependency is apart from the other diseases. Thus, the Internet Dependeny Polyclinic was opened in 2011  within the Bakırköy Psychiatric Hospital. Nevzat Tarhan is one of the person to create an awareness against this dependency. He brought new pespective to our scientifical researches by drawing attention that  family  ties are very important for the children to hold on to the social life and unhappiness and dissatisfaction are both reason and result of this dependency.”

Prof. Dr. Nevzat Tarhan formed a systematic framework relating the impact of the digital dependency to the individual and culture. Tarhan stated that digital dependecy affected child development and sense of community adversely and isolates a child as social and individual. Saying momentory pleasures and dependencies cause to the dissatisfaction and unhappiness in the long term, Tarhan raised the alarm saying “happiness is the main problem and some countries decided to organize in the ministry level.”

Tarhan mentioned that  happiness  became  a scientifical research subject.  Emphasizing that  “Happiness Science” course given by the  University of Yale  is the highest attendance lesson since university’s foundation, Tarhan said they initiated this model course a few years ago and “Happiness Psychology” courses are given by Uskudar University.  

In the end of the meeting, Tarhan was given a plaquette  and gifts by Founder President of USOMER Prof. Dr. Serhat Ulağlı for his valuable participation.
