Marmara University achieved outstanding success with its Karate and Taekwondo teams at the EUSA Combat Sports 2026, held in Tirana, Albania, from September 8 to 11, 2026.

Competing among 300 athletes from 24 countries in Karate and 319 athletes from 26 countries in Taekwondo, Marmara University athletes secured a total of 5 gold, 3 silver, and 2 bronze medals. According to the official EUSA results, Marmara University ranked first in the overall university standings with 10 medals in total.

The Karate team became champions in the overall European Universities Karate Championship standings with 2 gold and 1 silver medal, with Buse Kılıç and Mert Halıcı winning gold, and Melisa Kurdoğlu earning silver.

Marmara University’s Taekwondo team achieved an outstanding result, winning seven medals in total. Işıl Zafer, Alperen Ayaz and Merdan Çalık took gold, while Şahsenem Bağator and Pelin Düzen won silver, and Eylül Sezgin and Mahmut Küskü secured bronze. The team’s impressive performance earned Marmara University the team championship title at the European Universities Taekwondo Championship.
