Şerif Muhiddin Targan’s Works Preserved for Future Generations

Marmara University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Okur and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ayşin Satan visited the Marmara University Research and Application Center for Textile and Manuscript Conservation and Restoration (KONRESUM).

During the visit, Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Okur and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ayşin Satan had the opportunity to examine on site the works of Şerif Muhiddin Targan restored as part of a joint project undertaken by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Türkiye, the Presidency of the Manuscripts Institution of Türkiye, the Department of Book Hospital and Archives, and Marmara University’s Textile and Manuscript Conservation and Restoration Application and Research Center.

Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Okur and Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Ayşin Satan received a briefing from the Center’s coordinators, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meral Özomay and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Zafer Özomay, on the restoration efforts undertaken to safeguard works of significant cultural heritage value and preserve them for future generations.

As part of the visit, the restored works were examined on site, and discussions were held regarding the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral studies carried out within the center, ongoing scientific research projects, and the center’s plans and initiatives for the upcoming period.
