Marmara Flute Orchestra In Europe

Within a project of  Marmara University, Scientifical Researches Projects Office (BAPKO), Marmara Flute Orchestra that was founded by Prof. Dr. Ece Karşal of the Faculty of Fine Arts will represent Turkey with its concert in the  European Flute Choir Festival to be held in Poznan, Poland, on April 5th-7th 2019. The  premiere performance of the piece titled “Uyanış” which belongs to Turkish Composer Rahşan İzmirli Oğuz will be performed in that concert. The piece will be vocalised by solist Erdem Oğuz accompanied by Marmara Flute Orhestra.

Marmara Flute Orchestra was founded by Prof. Dr. Ece Karşal in 2015. Instruments were supplied within the support of the Department of  Marmara University Scientifical Research Projects  and the orchestra studies were began in November, 2015. Marmara Flute Orchestra is the first ensemble consisting of  all the members of the flute family of Turkey, professional flutists, teachers,  advanced amateur flutists, selected music students in different education levels including of primary, secondary, high school and university, among people from 10 to 45 years old.   Marmara Flute Orchestra, established in 2015,  put its signature under important successes in a short time. The ensemble performed a lot of concerts in the elite concert halls of Istanbul and, in 2016, it vocalised the pieces prepared by three Turkish composer for the orchestra for the first time  in the  international platform named “International Wind Instrument Festival”.  Among the purposes of the orchestra are to vocalise and introduce  the pieces of Turkish composers. It won the prizes in two branches in representation of Turkey and Marmara University in the competition organized within the scope of “Muzite International Youth Festival” that was held in Bulgaria between July 5-15, 2018.  With its successful performance in the competition, the orchestra was awarded the  first prize in “Classical Music- Orchestras” category besides getting the Best Professional Success Awards. Members of the orchestra consisting of 50 person have collected donation of pet food in their concerts under the social responsibility for street animals. Marmara Flute Orchestra are continuing its studies within Marmara University.
