The “Marmara Cup ’26”, held within the scope of the Rector’s Cup Tournament organized by Marmara University, began on 18 November with the opening program and matches.
The event was attended by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Gül Üstün, Secretary-General Hasan Şahin, Head of the Department of Health, Culture and Sports İshak Aslan, and students. The program opened with a performance by the Folk Dance Group affiliated with the Department of Health, Culture and Sports. Following the performance, the tournament began with the opening throw-in conducted by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Gül Üstün and Secretary-General Hasan Şahin.
In the tournament’s opening match in Group C, the Faculty of Business Administration defeated the Faculty of Dentistry with a score of 55–27. In Group A, the Faculty of Engineering secured an 85–30 victory against the Atatürk Faculty of Education. In the last match of the day, the Faculty of Political Science in Group B beat the Faculty of Health Sciences 73–52.
This year, a total of 42 teams are competing across three sports branches: men’s basketball, women’s volleyball, and men’s volleyball. The group allocations for each branch are as follows:
