Roadmap Set for SABİOTEK

The targets for the 2025-2026 period and the plans for the new term of the Health Biotechnology Center of Excellence Joint Application and Research Center (SABİOTEK), which is carried out in partnership with Marmara University, Yıldız Technical University, and Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, were discussed at a senior management meeting held on Monday, October 13, hosted by Yıldız Technical University.

The meeting, which brought together the top management of SABİOTEK—one of Türkiye’s most significant collaborative research centers in the field of health biotechnology— was attended by Rector of Marmara University, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Okur, Rector of Yıldız Technical University, Prof. Dr. Eyüp Debik, and Rector of Istanbul University-Cerrahpaşa, Prof. Dr. Nuri Aydın. Also present at the meeting were Marmara University Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Ümit Süleyman Şehirli, YTÜ Vice-Rectors Prof. Dr. Hüseyin Yılmaz and Prof. Dr. Vatan Karakaya, along with SABİOTEK Director Prof. Dr. Emine Elif Güzel Meydanlı, and Deputy Directors Prof. Dr. Cem Bülent Üstündağ and Prof. Dr. Bülent Mertoğlu.

During the meeting, SABİOTEK’s strategic roadmap, objectives to enhance the center’s visibility, strategies for effective utilization of international funding, and new laboratory investments were discussed. Additionally, a "Multidisciplinary Health Research Workshop" was planned to strengthen the promotion of the center's activities.

SABİOTEK, which brings together different research areas such as genetic engineering, biomaterials, tissue engineering, biomedical systems, and AI-based health technologies, aims to increase Turkey's global competitiveness in health biotechnology research through interdisciplinary collaboration.
