Within the scope of the 2025 Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) Science, Special, Service, and Incentive Awards, Marmara University Faculty of Medicine faculty member Prof. Dr. Ahmet Oğuzhan Özen was deemed worthy of the TÜBİTAK Science Award in the field of Health Sciences. At the ceremony held on December 23 at the Beştepe Millet Convention and Culture Center, Prof. Dr. Özen received his award from our President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan. The ceremony, attended by the Minister of Industry and Technology Mehmet Fatih Kacır, the President of the Turkish Academy of Sciences (TÜBA) Prof. Dr. Muzaffer Şeker, and the President of TÜBİTAK Prof. Dr. Orhan Aydın, also brought together rectors from various universities, award-winning academics, and their families.
Prof. Dr. Özen, a faculty member of the Department of Internal Medical Sciences at Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, was deemed worthy of this important award due to his scientific studies of internationally superior quality conducted on monogenic inflammatory bowel diseases and congenital protein-losing enteropathy (PLE).
The research conducted by Prof. Dr. Ahmet Oğuzhan Özen, whose academic department is Pediatrics, focuses on genetics and heredity, pediatric immunology and allergy, immunogenetics, and immunology. These studies, which provide scientific contributions to the diagnosis and treatment processes of rare diseases, offer significant scientific insights into the understanding of childhood immunological disorders.
