Marmara University Plant Biotechnology Research Group Launches Initiative to Enhance University-Industry Collaboration

The Plant Biotechnology Research Group, comprising academics from the Departments of Bioengineering and Biology at Marmara University, completed the Foundation and Practitioner levels of the EIT InfraBooster program and earned internationally recognized certificates.  The program aims to generate economic and social value by connecting universities’ research infrastructures with industry.

The research group includes Prof. Dr. Ahu Altınkut Uncuoğlu from the Department of Bioengineering, Prof. Dr. Yıldız Aydın from the Department of Biology, and postdoctoral researcher Dr. Ezgi Çabuk Şahin. Within the scope of the program, participants focused on how research competencies—such as molecular marker analyses, plant tissue culture, accelerated breeding, nanoparticle production via green synthesis, and biodiversity conservation developed in Marmara University laboratories—can be transformed into service models tailored for the private sector.

By concentrating on infrastructure analysis, service model development, competitive analysis, and marketing strategies, the program is expected to make significant contributions to strengthening university-industry collaborations.
