Marmara University Receives the “Accessible Informatics” Award

The Accessible Informatics Awards, which recognize outstanding projects in accessibility-focused information technologies in Türkiye, were presented during the opening ceremony held on October 15. A team of academics from the Department of German Translation and Interpreting at Marmara University’s Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences received an award in the “Website” category for their project “Türkiye’s First Digital Easy Language Library” within the scope of the BILTEVT 2025 Congress, themed “Universal Design in Information Technologies.”

The project team included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sine Demirkıvıran, Assoc. Prof. Derya Oğuz, Asst. Prof. Fayıka Göktepe, Instructor  Zuhal Pek (Coordinator of the Office for Students with Disabilities), Research Assistant  Tuğçe Ören, and Burak Özkarahisar. The team members received their award during the presentation ceremony held as part of the event.

Developed to produce content that is understandable and accessible to everyone, the project aims to promote equality in access to information, raise public awareness, and contribute to both academic and social initiatives in this field.
