Appointed as the Rector of Marmara University by the Presidential Decree No. 2025/344 dated September 6, 2025, with the approval of our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Okur received his certificate of appointment in a ceremony held at the Council of Higher Education (YÖK).

At the ceremony bringing together CoHE President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar and the newly appointed rectors, Prof. Dr. Özvar congratulated each rector individually and presented them with their certificates of appointment, which symbolize their official commencement of duty. With the certificate of appointment he received from President Özvar, Rector of Marmara University Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Okur officially initiated a new era at Marmara University.

In his message of gratitude issued following the certificate ceremony, Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Okur expressed that being appointed as rector of Marmara University—an institution he has long been proud to be a member of—was a great honor for him. Rector Prof. Dr. Okur emphasized that serving at a century-and-a-half-old, deeply rooted institution—of which our President is an alumnus and our CoHE President is a member—increases responsibility along with pride. Stressing that they will work towards the realization of the goals set for serving Marmara University, Rector Okur stated that all means and potential of the university will be mobilized to best prepare the youth for the future, and he extended his gratitude to our President, Mr. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, and to CoHE President Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, for entrusting him with this valuable duty.
