27. TÜSAP Vision Meeting Hosted by Marmara University

Organized by the Turkish Health Platform (TÜSAP), the '27. TÜSAP Vision Meeting was held on 3 June 2022,  at Marmara University Mehmet Genç Complex.

The meeting was attended by the Chairman of the Executive Board of TÜSAP and Deputy Minister of Health Prof. Dr. Sabahattin Aydın, Deputy Chairman of the Presidency Science Technology and Innovation Policy Board and President of TÜBİTAK Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal, Member of the Presidency Science Technology and Innovation Policy Board Dr.  Osman Coşkun, Member of the Presidency Health and Food Policies Board Ümmü Gülşen Öztürk, Member of the Presidency Health and Food Policies Board Pharm.  Ahmet Selim Köroğlu, Istanbul Provincial Health Director Prof. Dr. Kemal Memişoğlu, TİTCK Vice President Dr. Asım Hocaoğlu, President of TÜSEB Prof. Dr. Erhan Akdoğan and Marmara University Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çelen, academicians from many universities and leading sector representatives.

The opening speech of the meeting, which was organized with the aim of making vision discussions based on the current situation of the health sector and generating ideas about the future of the sector, was made by Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Çelen. Emphasizing the needs met by Marmara University in the field of diagnosis, research and treatment in the health sector and the quality of the education given in its related faculties, “We are very honored to host this meeting of which we are a stakeholder,” said Prof. Dr. Çelen.

In the meeting where R&D, localization and incentive practices in medicine and vaccine were discussed within the framework of the theme of "Pharmaceutical and Pharmacy",  Prof. Dr. Hasan Mandal made a presentation. Stating the importance of developing project ideas and creating new business models in cooperation with public and private institutions in the health sector, Prof. Dr. Mandal said, "We aim to develop and achieve together in vaccine and drug development processes." Stating that interdisciplinary studies should be carried out against global crises such as climate change and epidemics, Mandal emphasized the importance they attach to human resources in product development and stated that they support many projects developed by university students for industry and research.

Marmara University Hospital Chief Physician Prof. Dr. Hakan Gündüz, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Ümit S. Şehirli, Deputy Dean of Faculty of Medicine Prof. Dr. Altug Çinçin and Prof. Dr. Hasan Raci Yananlı, Prof. Dr. Safa Barış,  Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy Prof. Dr. Hatice Kübra Elçioğlu and Prof. Dr. Kadir Turan took part as a participant at the meeting.

In the workshop moderated by Dr. Mahmut Tokaç, who is also GETTAM Director at the Medipol University, a  survey was conducted among the participants in which the current deficiencies in Turkey's health sector and predictions for the near future were measured, and the results were discussed and interpreted.

The meeting ended with a souvenir photograph after Deputy Minister of Health Prof. Dr.  Sabahattin Aydın thanked Marmara University and all the participants.
