Comprehensive Cooperation with the Ministry of Youth and Sports Strengthens Our Campuses

The cooperation protocols between Marmara University and the Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Youth and Sports were officially signed on Friday, April 17, by Marmara University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Okur and the Istanbul Provincial Director of Youth and Sports, Muhittin Özbay. Through these strategic agreements, Marmara University continues to bolster its campus infrastructure and enhance social and residential facilities for its students.

The new protocols envision significant investments, including the construction of high-capacity student dormitories, the establishment of “Genç Ofis” (Youth Office) centers, and the development of modern sports facilities across various campuses. These initiatives are designed to support the multifaceted development of university students, fostering growth in both academic and social spheres.

5,000-Capacity Student Dormitory to be Built at Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Complex

Within the framework of the protocol, a modern and high-capacity student dormitory will be constructed at the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Complex. According to the agreement, the Ministry of Youth and Sports will undertake the entire planning, design, and construction process, while the Rectorate of Marmara University will ensure the coordination of the project.

This dormitory, planned with a capacity of approximately 5,000 students, represents a vital investment in addressing the housing needs of the student body. It has been noted that Marmara University students will be prioritized in dormitory placements, and the completion of this project is expected to significantly strengthen the university’s overall housing infrastructure.

“Genç Ofis” Centers to be Established Across All Campuses

Another significant protocol signed between the University and the Ministry ensures the establishment of “Genç Ofis” centers across all campuses to contribute to the social, cultural, and personal development of students. Initially, these offices will be commissioned at two key locations: the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Complex and the Health Sciences Campus.

These centers are designed as multi-purpose spaces where students can engage in activities related to education, volunteerism, sports, arts, and social responsibility. Under the agreement, the Ministry of Youth and Sports will provide equipment and operational support, while Marmara University will manage site allocation and academic coordination. This collaboration aims to create a sustainable model that fosters the well-rounded development of students throughout their academic journey.
