The 25th Marmara Student Congress (MaSCo), organised by students from the Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, began on 22 May in the Faculty of Medicine Conference Hall at Marmara University. The congress, which runs from 22–24 May, includes oral presentations, poster sessions and workshops where students will share their scientific work.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Marmara University Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt stated that MaSCo has become an important platform that reflects the scientific memory of the Marmara University Faculty of Medicine, not just a student congress. Emphasising that the research conducted by students under the guidance of their academic supervisors contributes to the faculty's institutional identity, Rector Kurt said: 'MaSCo is not just a congress; it is also a legacy. It showcases how Marmara University students contribute to science, society and humanity”.
The Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Ümit Süleyman Şehirli, also spoke at the opening ceremony, noting that MaSCo has evolved into a significant event that reflects the faculty's academic achievements. He emphasised that the opportunity for students to present their curriculum-based research in a scientific setting at the end of the academic year adds special value to the congress.
Following the opening speeches, Prof. Dr. Alper Toker gave a presentation on 'Robotic Surgery in All Aspects', offering insights into the various dimensions of robotic surgery in light of current practices and technological advancements. The opening programme concluded with a commemorative plaque being presented to Prof. Dr. Toker by Rector Kurt and Dean Şehirli, followed by a group photo session.
