Restoration and Classical Binding Workshop has opened under the Department of Library and Documentation of Marmara University. Restorer and Classical Leather Specialist Mustafa Sulu from the Presidential Archive was assigned to our university in order to carry out the studies of the workshop.
Marmara University Library and Documentation Department, which has a rich collection of manuscripts and Ottoman rare books, opened a binding and restoration workshop by the need to protect the works it owns. The workshop, in which the restoration works of 13 Ottoman books were completed, was opened in the Library of the Faculty of Theology, where the rare art collections of our university are located.
The unit aims to complete the conservation and restoration studies of our university's rare collection, to train expert personnel and to have a say in the field as an authority institution.
