The “Weave of Life ” Exhibition  Opened

Lecturer Dr.  Çimen Bayburtlu of the Marmara University Jewelry and Jewelry Design Department  Çimen Bayburtlu presented her 7th solo exhibition titled “Weave of Life”, consisting of waste skins and braids, at the SASAV Exhibition Hall on August 20, 2021, after the "Short Stories" exhibition in which she brought her stories together with clothes in 2020.

It is planned to give free choice to the wearer with clothes that are designed with different colors of waste leather, colored threads, and wires in different structures, which are used especially on shirts or t-shirts and create elegance, with an indefinite front and back.

Referring to life, the artist describes her clothes as follows; “In my clothes, I wanted to make wearable skins from cut scraps that were previously used for another purpose, maybe a jacket, maybe a bag, and then discarded. I shaped these leathers, which have different edges and holes in them, by knitting them with different materials with tools such as crochet, needle, etc. I didn't plan while doing this. While creating my designs, I allowed the material and my emotions to guide me, allowing experiences, traces of the past, and ideas of the future to emerge. I wish you to visit my designs consisting of waste leather and knitting, which I have hand-patterned with leather dye and embroidery threads, feeling the beauties that life offers us…”

Çimen Bayburtlu solo exhibition can be visited at the SASAV Exhibition Hall until 10 September.
