Within the framework of the cooperation carried out under the protocol signed between the Marmara University Psychological Counseling Application and Research Center (MARPAM) and the Istanbul Technical University Psychological Counseling Center, the “12th Congress on Psychological Counseling and Guidance in Higher Education” was held between October 15–17 at the Süleyman Demirel Cultural Center on Istanbul Technical University’s Ayazağa Campus.
This year’s congress, held under the theme “Changing Youth Issues in a Changing World,” opened with speeches by Prof. Dr. Yusuf Alpaydın, Dean of Marmara University’s Faculty of Atatürk Education, and Prof. Dr. Müge Yüksel, Director of MARPAM. The event brought together numerous academics, experts, practitioners, and students from 45 different universities, schools affiliated with the Ministry of National Education, Guidance and Research Centers, and various foundations.
The congress addressed psychosocial processes specific to youth, psychological counseling services offered in higher education institutions, and how these services adapt to social changes. Participants focused on emerging risk areas faced by young people, support mechanisms, and approaches to improving guidance practices. The event also included discussions on methods to enhance the professional resilience of mental health professionals. In total, 5 panels, 18 workshops, and numerous paper sessions were held throughout the congress.
