The “Control Systems and PLC Laboratory,” prepared within the scope of a ten-year cooperation agreement between Marmara University Technical Vocational School and Mutlusan Elektrik A.Ş., was inaugurated on 18 November with an opening ceremony. The ceremony was attended by Marmara University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Okur, Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Yaşar Kabataş, Director of the Technical Vocational School Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ay, Deputy Director Dr. Lecturer Nuray Ceviz, Mutlusan Elektrik Chairman of the Board Mustafa Kaçmaz, company executives, faculty members, and students.
The ceremony began with a one-minute moment of silence in memory of the martyrs, followed by the recitation of the National Anthem. Speaking at the ceremony, Marmara University Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Emin Okur stated that the event was not merely an opening ceremony but represented a significant milestone in university–industry collaboration. Emphasizing that the vision and voluntarism demonstrated by Mutlusan Elektrik Chairman of the Board Mustafa Kaçmaz were greatly appreciated by the university, Rector Okur highlighted that the investment would directly contribute to students’ professional development. Noting that Kaçmaz’s commitment to national and domestic production aligned with Marmara University’s educational philosophy, Okur stated that the university placed strong emphasis on such partnerships in line with its objective to train qualified human resources for the sector. Okur added that the event would have long-term outcomes both for students and for Türkiye’s production capacity, and emphasized that the contributions made would generate returns for both the university and the industry. He concluded by stating that Marmara University would continue its engagements with the business world to better prepare students for the sector, and that the support provided by Mutlusan Elektrik offered important opportunities for students in terms of employment and practical training. He expressed his gratitude to all contributors, describing the initiative as a long-term investment in the future.
Subsequently, Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ay, Director of Marmara University Technical Vocational School, took the floor and drew attention to the importance of supporting vocational education with a strong technical infrastructure. Prof. Dr. Ay stated that university-industry collaborations have reached a strategic position in this process, and thanked the companies that provided support regarding educational materials and technical equipment.At the end of his speech, he thanked the institutions and the university administration for their contributions to the event and wished the students success.
During the event, Mustafa Kaçmaz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Mutlusan Elektrik, addressed the audience, discussing the company's production efforts, human resources policies, and the opportunities for practical training offered to university students. Continuing his speech by sharing his experiences in working life starting from his youth, Kaçmaz stated that Mutlusan Elektrik is now a company that exports to 85 countries and has over 700 employees. Expressing that the company has grown entirely with its own capital, Kaçmaz noted that the internship opportunities provided to university students aim to bring theory and practice together. He concluded his speech by thanking the university administration and wishing the students success.
Following the speeches, Mutlusan Elektrik Chairman of the Board Mustafa Kaçmaz was presented with a token of appreciation for his contributions. Assoc. Prof. Dr. Onur Akar and Nurdoğan Büyükkeskin, faculty members of the Technical Vocational School who played key roles in establishing the laboratory, were also invited to the stage and presented with plaques of appreciation.
The program continued with refreshments in the foyer area. Participants then moved to the laboratory building to conduct the opening ceremony of the Control Systems and PLC Laboratory. After the opening, the guests toured the laboratory and received information about the practical training activities that will be carried out there.
