First International Istanbul Kodaly Training Days Are Over

Activity started with the opening ceremony at Marmara University Göztepe Campus İbrahim Üzümcü  Conference Hall on October 9th. Marmara University Vice Rector Prof.Mehmet Akman PhD, Hungary Consul General  Balázs Hendrich, Atatürk Education Faculty Dean Prof. Ahmet Şükrü Özdemir PhD, Director of Hungarian Cultural Center Gabor Fodor and Deputy Director Aron Sipos, as well as trainers, invited guests and many guests from abroad attented the ceremony.After the concert given by Assoc. Prof. Bülent Halvaşi's Atatürk Education Faculty Music Education Polyphonic Choir , Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Ali Özdemir played baglama and Erkan Dedeoğlu played qanun. After Project Executive Assist. Assoc. Ercan Mertoğlu's opening speech, Project General Coordinator Prof. Sibel Çoban PhD made a speech. Opening ceremony continued with the reading of the opening speech due to The Presidency of the Preschool Department Prof.Ozana Ural's inability to be found due to the examination task.Following the speeches of  Nemes Laszlo Norbert, Director of the Kodaly Institute of Hungary, Dean of Atatürk Education Faculty Prof.Ahmet Şükrü Özdemir,  the Hungarian Consul General in Istanbul Balázs Hendrich, Rector of Marmara University Prof Mehmet Akman made a speech mentioning the significance of the day.

An intensive training program was applied to 150 participants for four days. On October 11, 2017, a special concert was organized by the Nemeth Quartet at the Kaderoy Municipality Yeldeğirmeni Cultural Center Concert Hall, consisting of works by Hungarian and Turkish composers.

Panel was organized on 12 October 2017, at İbrahim Uzumcu  Conference Hall under the moderatorship of Prof.Sibel Çoba. Prof.Michalis Patseas, Director of the Kodina Conservatory at Kodina,  about the practices of Kodaly children's music education approach in Greece, the assistant director of the Near East University Atatürk Education Faculty Music Department Assoc. Prof. Ertem Nalbantoğlu  about the implementation in Cyprus, Mustafa Avşar, Instructor of Marmara University, t about the academic studies and researches about the Kodaly approach in Turkey and finally the assistant of the Project Executive Assoc. Prof. Ercan Mertoğlu gave a few papers about the importance of music education in early childhood and the training of appropriate teachers. The training days ended with the closing concert where the participants exhibited the products of their studies for four days and the introduction of participants’ certificates of participation .

As a result of the studies on the four main topics, according to the results of the survey conducted on the last day with the participants, it was reported back that under the roof of the Marmara University, which has an open mission to fundamental, scientific and artistic innovations, the training days were highly productive and effective and would be repeated in the coming years.
