Marmara University Special Olympics Istanbul Games

Special Olympics Turkey as part of Special Olympics is one of the most popular non-governmental organization and amateur sports organization. This year, the events as part of this organization for people who need special education continued as Marmara University Special Olympics Turkey Istanbul Games.

Special and partner sportsmen performed in the branches of athletics, swimming, basketball and volleyball  in Special Olympics Turkey Istanbul Game held with collaboration of Marmara University and Special Olympics.  It was held with the participants of totally 450 people consisting of 182 special and partner sportsmen, trainers, teachers, doctors and volunteers. Special Olympics Turkey Istanbul Games continued with Special Sportsmen Delegates’ speeches after parade, one minute’s silence and National Anthem. After Director of Special Olympics Turkey Didem Ünsür made a speech, Honorary Director of Special Olympics Turkey Dilek Sabancı made a speech.

Marmara University Vice Rector Prof. Mehmet Akman also made a speech in the event. Vice Rector Prof. Akman expressed his contentment to take place in such organization and wished a continuing success to participants in their life. 

After speeches, the ceremony continued with games which special and partner sportsmen attended. In the end of the day, special and partner sportsmen shared the joy of winning medal.
