Starting with the speech of Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences Prof. Sabahat Deniz the ceremony continued with the speech of chief of Biology Department Prof. Nagihan Gülsoy. After the speeches and the presentation consisting of photo slides of Prof. Meral Ünal from past to present, videos of Ünal’s friends who couldn’t attend to the ceremony and want to convey their best wishes were shown. Guests attending to the ceremony also took the floor and told their common memories with Prof. Dr. Meral Ünal. The ceremony ended with a cocktail party after presenting flowers and plaque.

Prof. Dr. Meral Ünal who specialized in Plant Embryology in 46 years of academic life has authorship of national and international books, chapters and publications on her field. Besides Ünal worked as chief of department, principal in the Institute of Science and Technology, dean of Faculty of Arts and Sciences for a long time and carried out administrative functions such as senatorship with success. Ünal’s high school friends, academician friends from İstanbul and Marmara Universities, her students, administrative personnel and her family didn’t leave her alone in the ceremony.
