Panel of ‘’Violence in Health Sector’’

The panel took place in the directorship of Assoc. Prof. Murat Dinçer Çekin and with the participance of speakers such as Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Üsküdar University Prof. Haydar Sur and Academician at the Department of Medical History and Ethics, Bahçeşehir University Prof. Kadircan Keskinbora and General Secretary of HAYAD Atty. Ümit Erdem.

Prof. Haydar Sur who is the first speaker of the session said in his speech ‘’It is not enough to combat violence in health sector by solely evaluating the violence in the health field, It is essential to consider the violence in every part of society and a solution should be searched in this framework.’’ Prof. Haydar Sur also emphasized that it is important to do the needs analyses in health and using these analyses has importance in combating violence in health. Indicating that this field is in need of academic studies, Prof. Haydar Sur pointed out the tension brought about by not being satisfied the needs of the patients and the service provided.

Prof. Kadircan Keskinbora underlined the importance of the media and health education in preventing the violence in health. Remarking the negative effects of the news and publications, Prof. Keskinbora mentioned about the good examples too.

General Secretary of HAYAD Atty. Ümit Erdem informed about the legal procedures for violence situations for the health personnel.

The panel that the students and academicians of the Faculty of Health Sciences, Marmara University paid intense attention to, ended with the question and answer session.
