Children of Pure World Autism Family Seminars Have Begun

The opening of the Children of the Pure World Autism Family Seminars, organized by the Marmara University Disabled Student Unit Coordinator with the support of the General Directorate of Services for the Disabled and Elderly of the Ministry of Family and Social Services, and in partnership with TODEV (Turkey Support and Education Foundation for Autism), was held in Marmara University Göztepe Campus Dr. İbrahim Üzümcü Conference Hall.

Marmara University Disabled Student Unit Coordinator Instructor Zuhal Pek said, “We stand shoulder to shoulder with families with the love of people and children. We are with them.” Elmas Esra Ceceli, General Manager of Disabled and Elderly Services of the Ministry of Family and Social Services, shared her first contact with autism and her experiences on  this subject and talked about the activities of  the General Directorate of Services for the Disabled and Elderly. Ceceli congratulated Marmara University Disabled Student Unit for being a pioneer and organizing this series of seminars, and stated that it would be very beneficial for other universities to organize such events for families.

The first of the seminars was held with the title of “I Doubt! Is it autism?". In  the seminar, where Assoc. Prof. Aydan Aydın of the  Marmara University Ataturk Faculty of Education Special Education Department took part as moderator, Prof. Dr. Nusret Soylu of the Department of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and TODEV Foundation President Arzu Gökçe took part as speakers.

The series of seminars included in the Autism Action Plan aiming to inform the family about the changes and regulations in all phases of life from the moment of the  autism diagnosis will continue until June 2023. Families will be informed about autism in 10 different seminars with 20 speakers from experts and experienced families.
