Marmara University Didn't Forget Its Colleagues Lost During the Pandemic

Marmara University organized a very meaningful event both for its staff lost and the children born during the pandemic, at the Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Complex, which will be moved in the coming days.

At the commemoration ceremony organized by the Department of Human Resources and the Department of Construction and Maintenance, pedestals were established in the name of university staff who lost their lives to the pandemic. The ceremony was attended by Marmara University Rector Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar, Secretary-General Dr. Murat Arısal and the deans of the faculties, the university administration, the employees and the families of those who lost their lives in the pandemic.

In the commemoration ceremony held at the beginning of the pedestals created for the staff who lost their lives due to Covid 19, there were emotional moments when the families and colleagues of the deceased people talked about their lost friends.

In his speech, Rector Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar said, “We lost our valuable colleagues during the pandemic. To prove loyalty to humanity, we wanted to keep the memories and names of our lost staff alive in our complex. We remember them with mercy and loyalty. We are grateful for their services.'

Then, plaques with the names of the children were nailed to the nursery, which was created as part of the "I'm Growing With My Seedlings" event organized by the Department of Human Resources on behalf of the Marmara University staff’s infants born during the pandemic. Rector Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar watered the trees with the children participating in the ceremony.

Özvar, “As hard as it is to say goodbye to those we lost, it is so nice to say hello to our children who joined our lives in this sad time and to plant their seedlings. Every newborn baby is the hope of us and our country. We are working to make our complex green, which is under construction and we will start move next month. Our children and seedlings will grow together and be beneficial to our country. ' said.

Rector Prof. Dr. Erol Özvar visited Marmara University Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Complex with deans, university administration and attendees. In the  speech he made at the lecture hall of the Faculty of Technology, Özvar said, "We are looking forward to the days when we will meet with our students."
