Weaving Design Studio Was Opened

The opening of the 'Karınca Tekstil & Penelope CAD Weaving Design Studio', which was founded within the scope of university and sector cooperation, was held on May 3, 2023, at the Faculty of Technology, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Complex, with the participation of Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt.

To strengthen cooperation between the textile industry and Marmara University, as well as the theory and practical experience, the "Weaving Design Studio" was established in the Faculty of Technology, with the support of the companies of Karinca Tekstil and Penelope CAD Barcelona.

The opening of the 'Weaving Design Studio', prepared for the designs of computer-aided fabrics, was made by Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt's speech. Stating that the 'Weaving Design Studio' is a very important achievement for Marmara University, Rector Kurt said, "I would like to express my gratitude on behalf of our university to all the individuals and institutions who contributed to the acquisition of the Karınca Textile & Penelope CAD Weaving Design Studio." Kurt,  accompanied by Dean of the Faculty of Technology Prof. Dr. Hasan Erdal, Head of Textile Engineering Department Prof. Dr. İsmail Usta, Chairman of the Board of Directors of  Karınca Textile Ahmet Feridun Altınöz, Vice-President Ferruh Altınöz and Penelope Turkey Product Manager Nilgün Tok, opened the "Karınca Textile & Penelope CAD Weaving Design Studio".

Founded with the initiatives of Assoc. Prof. Mustafa Sabri Özen and Research Assist.  Ali Beyit and with the support of the Dean of the Faculty of Technology Prof. Dr. Hasan Erdal and Head of Textile Engineering Department Prof. Dr. İsmail Usta, computer and training support of the “Weaving Design Studio” is provided by Ahmet Feridun Altınöz, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Karınca Textile. Mateu Iglesias, Sales Manager of Penelope CAD Barcelona companies, and Nilgün Tok, Turkey Product Manager, took part in this important initiative with their software and license contributions.

At the end of the opening ceremony, Rector Prof. Dr. Mustafa Kurt presented handmade plates to Ahmet Altınöz and Nilgün Tok, while the Dean of the Faculty of Technology Prof. Dr. Hasan Erdal presented their plaques of appreciation.
